May 2011 Shaft Lathe arrives. Our DSG type 21 x 144 has arrived. This lathe has 3650 m/m between centres. It will turn 400mm over the saddle and 530mm in the Gap.
Jan 2011 Happy New Year Everyone !!! Gee that has been some run of weather. Like most we are still reeling from the knock on effect of the disruption in the Central Belt no deliveries, and goods lost all over the place.

Sept 2010 ISO-9000 registered since 2001, FirScot has successfully transferred approval body from Sira to DNV, while transferring between the two FirScot has upgraded toBS-EN-ISO-9001:2008 and added DESIGN to the portfolio. This has increased the companies scope and will boost client confidence that design work will be done in a structured and professional manor. Well done to William who managed the upgrade and transfer. Our new scope is:

Sept 2010 Re-Location, Re-location, Re-location Delayed !!!!. With great frustration on all sides the re-location to Forres is to be delayed by a few weeks this has been due to various internal and to a greater degree external factors, including the weather, rain rain rain and no concrete poured. Details of the new telephone number address etc will be posted here at the start of October so please visit again soon.
Aug 2010 Re-Location, Re-location, Re-location. Our up and coming re-location to Forres is approaching fast. We have been planning for the move for what seems like years. The building should be complete for moving in by the end of September. We are really looking forward to it.
July 2010 We require to appoint a
Machine Shop Supervisor
This post is a key part of our structural development. The main duties are to assist the directors with the day to day running of the Machine Shop to ensure on time delivery of orders. To assist with shopfloor problem solving, maintain production records and to ensure compliance with company procedures.
This is a hands on position and candidates must be able to programme, set and operate CNC equipment with Fanuc controls / G code programming.
We have a mixture of CNC and manual machines and we are interested to hear from candidates with good CNC turning and milling skills and sound manual machining experience. Candidates with methods planning, scheduling and are computer literate will be at an advantage. We would be interested in hearing from engineers who have held supervisory positions and consider they have the necessary qualifications or skills to fill this role.
This positon will be based in Forres when we relocate to a purpose built facillity in August 2010. We expect to conduct interviews for this position in mid August. Please email cv's to info@firscot.net
June -2010 We are pleased to announce that we have a appointed Andrew Shepherd to the position of Project Engineer / Manager. Andrew will take up his post on the 14th of June. Andrew is an experianced engineer who will bring a concentreated broad range of skills to FirScot and we look forward to him joining our team.

This post is a key part of the company’s structural development and is to assist the managing director with projects and develop the companies products.With a strong mechanical engineering background be able to produce detailed drawings and designs using CAD software. Develop relationships with our new and old partners liaise with clients to provide technical support and solutions to their engineering requirements.
Initially working from both our Newtonmore and Forres offices it will be permanently Forres based when the company relocates to its new purpose built facility in the summer 2010.
